URL contains no Google Analytics code

This means that the URL in question does not contain the Google Analytics snippet.

Why is this important?

Google Analytics is a popular, free tool for tracking website visitors and how they engage with content on your website.

This Hint merely exists to highlight the absence of such a tag.

What does the Hint check?

This Hint will trigger for any internal URL that does not contain the Google Analytics tracking script within the rendered HTML.

Note: this Hint will trigger even if the Google Analytics code sits within a Google Tag Manager container, as Sitebulb will not fire the GTM script in order to find the Google Analytics code. This may lead to false positives.

Examples that trigger this Hint

The Hint would trigger for any URL which does NOT contain the following in the <head>:

<!-- Google Analytics -->
<script>
(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
(i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
})(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXX-Y', 'auto');
ga('send', 'pageview');
</script>
<!-- End Google Analytics -->

Why is this Hint marked 'Advisory'?

A lot of sites on the internet use Google Analytics as their tracking solution, however there are lots of other alternatives (including simply not tracking anything at all) - so not finding Google Analytics is by no means 'a bad thing.'

This Hint becomes useful when you audit a site that does actively use Google Analytics, as it will highlight the URLs for which the Google Analytics code is not present, allowing you to check and potentially fix this.
